May 2026 Black Belt Test | Hong Ik Martial Arts of Roseville

The May 2026 Black Belt Test began with three practice sessions focused on indoor components. Candidates reviewed their entire color belt curriculum, including poomsaes, kicking combinations, board breaking, sparring, dummy and target drills, and YeonDan.

During these sessions, candidates also completed written and oral exams covering Hong Ik principles and terminology, while maintaining the physical and spiritual conditioning required for long-term testing.

The outdoor test, which was announced 7–11 months ago when candidates received their Bodan belts, challenged them with backpack training, various running distances, duck walks, kicking drills, and meditation in nature.

For the final indoor test, we were honored to welcome a special guest judge, Master Lim from Hong Ik Martial Arts of Renton, who recently opened the 8th Hong Ik Martial Arts location in Washington.

We are extremely proud of the four candidates who successfully tested for their 1st Dan Black Belt. They showed great sincerity and perseverance in overcoming physical and mental limitations to reach this milestone.

Great job to everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the Black Belt Ceremony!
