A CHANCE TO EXPRESS YOUR PERSONAL BEST

PREPARING FOR THE BLACK BELT TEST

Can you hold plank for three minutes?  Do you remember the kicking combinations and poomses (forms) from all previous belts?  Can you push yourself to run at your highest speed?

These are some of the challenges the October 2020 “Pandemic Black Belt” candidates will face in their upcoming Black Belt test this month.

Students testing this month are a unique lot indeed – they have persevered through previously unimaginable change and circumstances, continuing their training online through the state mandated lockdown and jumping right back into group classes upon our Reopening July 16!

These Black belt candidates have just been tested on all of the belt principles and terminology. In the upcoming outdoor and indoor tests they will show their physical conditioning by running, holding “push-up” position, “duck walking” (walking for a distance in a very low squat) and more.  They will perform kicking combinations and select forms from previous belts. They will each be performing three designated board breaking techniques with family members as board holders. Parents and family members play a huge role in supporting their black belt candidates through this challenging and comprehensive process.  It is truly a family endeavor.

This is a journey that requires perseverance, belief in yourself and the ability to express humility while pursuing your personal best.

The outdoor test is first…
