New Rochelle September 2026 Taegeuk SaamTaegeuk
HISA Winner: Korin Burke
I was awarded the HISA award for Taegeuk Saamtaegeuk this September. I practiced in class as well as at home every day for three weeks. I learned to be more focused, patient, and disciplined, while becoming more aware of the energy I receive from Mother Nature.
It is important to use this in a positive way. I believe that others who practice SaamTaegeuk could also develop greater concentration, self-control, and a sense of purpose. The meaning of SaamTaeguek is more than just improving ourselves. It also connects to Hong Ik In Gaan, which teaches us we have a responsibility to benefit humanity. Everything we learn through Tae Kwon Do should not be kept to ourselves. We should share it with others to help them grow too.
By teaching what we have learned, encouraging others, and setting a positive example we can share these benefits with our families and other students. Practicing SaamTaeguek reminds me that becoming a better person is only part of my journey as a SUSA and MUSA. Using what I learn to help others become better is how I can put Hong Ik In Gaan into action.
