Hong Ik Martial Arts Champion HIMAC: Holding Push-Ups

HIMAC:  HOLDING PUSH-UPS

Dear HIMA Students:

The theme for July 2026 Hong Ik Martial Arts Champion (“HIMAC”) is Holding Push-ups

Push-ups in general help strengthen your upper body and core, revitalize body cells (when vibration is triggered), and release compressed emotions held in the middle energy center (joong dahn jun). Push-ups can also help to boost self-confidence.

It is important to maintain proper posture, focus and breathing. Key pointers include::

  • Keep palms shoulder-width apart
  • Keep your legs together, heels touching
  • Maintain a straight line from your feet to your head (avoiding scorpion or mountain butt)
  • Avoid looking around, keeping your eyes focused below your forehead
  • Breathe slowly using your nose only, keeping lips gently sealed and placing your tongue on the roof of your mouth, without tension

  • Week #3: 10 seconds holding time at bottom

This training will be very useful in preparing for push-up holding posture when you are eligible take your black belt test. Please use attached weekly report to track your progress and submit to your HIMA location by July 30th.
