March HST Training –

March 15 was the 1st Practice for the Hong Ik Martial Arts Festival Demo Team.  Over 50 SUSA and MUSA Leadership students gathered to practice with Masters Chun Shim, Shin Min, and Ji Sun.  The performance consists of Target Kicking, Board Breaking, and unique SUSA and MUSA curriculum involving Qi Gong, Swordsmanship, and Combat Training.  Additionally, the 2026 HIMAF Demo Team will feature skills from the Hong Ik Martial Arts Tumbling and Nunchuck Workshops.

We are very happy to have all Demo Team Members display what they learned in their classes.  More importantly, we hope they can incorporate this into their study of their own and others’ growth, as well as inspire unity.  Some students may be very confident and can use this experience to better understand humility.  Others may have second-guessed whether they were good enough for this elite group. However, feeling their peers’ support can potentially change their minds and result in greater self-belief the next time a challenge arises.  Every Susa/Musa is at a different stage in their martial arts journey.  Regardless of our physical abilities, we should act with sincerity.  Sincerity expands our capabilities more rapidly and attracts more opportunities to awaken a more purposeful attitude in contributing to the prosperity of the world community.  

The 13th Hong Ik Martial Arts Festival will be held on June 13th, 2026, at Irvington High School.  The next Demo Team practice is scheduled for Sunday, April 19th, 1:30 PM – 2:45 PM at Hong Ik Martial Arts of Tarrytown.  Members please confirm your attendance with your regional Master.  We look forward to continued improvement in each preparation session and building excitement as we get closer to this special event.
