Freddy Browne is a newly promoted blue belt at Hong Ik Martial Arts of New Rochelle. On Saturday, August 29, 2026 he celebrated his 1st HIMA Birthday Party, turning 7 years old.
He had over 15 guests in attendance, to whom he introduced basic martial arts consisting of hand strikes, kicking, and K-Qigong. Before this, Freddy spoke about the 5 aims to achieve, tying principle study with physical exercise. Once his friends demonstrated adequate concentration to learn proper stances and techniques in the air, they practiced using various martial arts equipment. The activities portion concluded with Chook Ki Hyung (Form to accumulate/restore energy). Before heading to the lower level space for pizza and cake, Freddy and Master Malcolm gave a preview demonstration for the very end of the party. As a nunchuck workshop Level 1 graduate, he displayed 6 of that weapon’s techniques and finished with a single side kick board breaking. Master Malcolm preempted this by jumping over 2 Susas with a flying side kick.
After a joyous singing of “Happy Birthday,” his friends were treated to a performance from the Hong Ik Leaders: Sword Qigong, Susa/Musa Kicking combinations, HIMA Tumbling, and board breaking (Master Malcom, Susa Musa Korin, his sister and fellow blue belt Mara, Freddy (2 stations)).
