TaeGeuk and SaamTaeGeuk Qigong
Meaning of TaeGeuk
Tae is extreme, Geuk is the end. TaeGeuk means extreme end. It is the principle of the cosmic energy cycle. Once energy starts to grow, eventually it reaches its peak (extreme end) but instead of disappearing or destroying, it converts into another type of energy thereby continuing its energy life cycle. The material parts of the cosmos are created by the TaeGeuk principle. The characteristics of the rising and expanding energy part of TaeGeuk is called Yang, while the gathering and shrinking energy part of TaeGeuk is called Um. Through complete harmony and continuation of Yang and Um, which is TaeGeuk, the cosmos was created and is still evolving.

Meaning of SaamTaeGeuk
Our spirit and body have evolved by receiving precious energy every day from Mother Nature. The blessings Mother Nature graciously bestowed upon us are constantly at our disposal in our life journey, whenever we are ready to use them.
The energy from the Heavenly Sky is called Chun Ki. Chun Ki determines the brightness of our spiritual body.
The energy from the Earth is called Ji Ki. Ji Ki determines the condition of our physical body.
As we are blessed by Chun Ki and Ji Ki from Mother Nature, we need to recognize our important responsibility as part of our gratitude towards Mother Nature. That responsibility is a blessing to humanity (Hong Ik In Gaan).
SaamTaeGeuk principle teaches us how we should strive for a better and more meaningful life.
SaamTaeGeuk can be illustrated as follows:
